Dentures and Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can make it challenging to perform everyday activities, feel confident, and maintain an active social life. By offering a number of tooth replacement options, Elk Grove dentist Dr. Pritpal Gill is helping patients regain their smiles and their health.

Modern dentures are more attractive and functional than ever, and Dr. Gill has experience designing them for patients who want to improve their diets and appearance after tooth loss.

Beyond Your Grandparents’ Dentures

If you have visions of boxy-looking generic dentures that slip and move, you will be happy to know that the denture process has improved dramatically in recent decades, giving patients who choose dentures more options than ever.

Denture teeth now come in many shapes, colors, and shades so patients can achieve a natural-looking outcome.

With the increased use of dental implants to retain dentures, patients are enjoying a better quality of life.

Dentures Three Ways!

Dentures in Lodi and Elk Grove are customized, and we offer various material types that benefit our patients. Denture models also come three ways. We've shared our denture styles below.

Complete Dentures

No matter the materials you choose for your complete denture, we think you'll be pleased with this modern removable prosthetic that takes over for total tooth loss.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures replace only missing teeth. These prosthetics fit around your remaining teeth to fill in smile gaps. They come with special dental clips for added support.

All-on-4®

Implant-retained dentures rely on up to four dental implants for stability. These fixed prosthetics are ideal for patients seeking a more stable tooth-replacement solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Pritpal Gill started Oak Tree Dentistry with our Elk Grove location and added our Lodi location to serve another community in need of high-quality, gentle dentistry for patients of all ages.

Because of our location, we are honored to serve many senior and elderly patients. We believe having good oral health care as you age is part of vitality and longevity. It is an important aspect of overall wellness for the wisest members of our community. We offer everything from gum treatments to dental implants and everything in between.

Dental care is important for every stage of life because having healthy teeth and gums means that you face fewer dietary restrictions due to pain or tooth loss. Being able to eat crunchy vegetables, healthy proteins, and heart-healthy grains with friends and family supports not only good health, but also good times.

If you require dentures, we offer everything from complete dentures to partial dentures and even implant-supported dentures for additional stability when you laugh and eat.

Our Lodi dental office is located near the intersection of S Sacramento Rd and W Lodi Ave near Woodbridge Ecological Reserve and Micke Road Zoo. We welcome patients from Lodi, Woodbridge, Armstrong, and nearby communities.

We look forward to meeting you and your family and welcoming you to your new dental home.

Yes, even if you have full-mouth prosthetics, it’s crucial to continue seeing the dentist. Ideally, it would be best if you visited us every six months for checkups.

Your dental checkups include gum health assessments, which are crucial to your ongoing oral health and systemic wellness. Unfortunately, restorations and prosthetics like dentures cannot prevent gum disease and its potential consequences.

About Gum Disease

Gum disease is an inflammatory condition of the jawbone and oral tissues. Untreated gum disease can lead to severe heart and lung health complications. Recent studies also link it to Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and even cancer. Leaving gum disease undiagnosed and untreated can also lead to severe bone loss and pain, making it difficult or impossible to continue wearing dentures.

Gum disease symptoms may be subtle if you wear dentures, but you may notice some or all of the following symptoms:

  • Bad breath
  • Gum pain
  • Bone loss
  • Bleeding gums

Remember, your gum health matters even if you wear dentures!

Dentistry for Seniors

Sometimes, senior adults represent an underserved part of our population, and our team aims to change that.

Regular dental care gives us a chance to evaluate gum health even if you wear dentures. And gum health is crucial to your long-term health.

Gum disease risks your wellness and can influence heart and lung health. Studies also associate it with Alzheimer’s disease and autoimmune arthritis.

It’s also essential to have your dentures evaluated for fit and function. You may need a reline if you’re applying adhesives throughout the day. It may be time for a new set if your dentures are cracked or damaged.

Additionally, our team can provide tips and advice to help keep gums healthy, even if you have issues with movement or mobility.

There is no hard or fast rule for when you’ll need new dentures. In other words, they don’t have a set expiration date. However, dentures and partials in Elk Grove and Lodi will need replacement eventually.

Signs You Might Need New Dentures

  • Your dentures are loose, and you’re reapplying adhesive throughout the day.
  • Your dentures are cracked or worn and at risk for breakage.
  • Your dentures are damaged, affecting your speech, diet, or ease of wear.

Sometimes, your dentist can repair a damaged denture, especially if it is in excellent condition. Additionally, we can reline a denture if it feels loose. However, your dentist will evaluate your prosthetic for wear and tear and let you know whether it’s time to consider replacement.

We’re pleased to offer complete, partial, and All-on-4® (implant dentures) in our Lodi and Elk Grove dental offices.

Complete dentures restore your smile when tooth loss is complete. Partial dentures stand in for sporadic tooth loss. Implant dentures are a fixed arch of restoration teeth attached to the jaw.

At Oak Tree Dentistry, your smile is our passion, and so is your comfort!

We’re pleased to offer three levels of dental sedation in Lodi and Elk Grove to meet your needs.

Types of Sedation Dentistry We Offer

Our team monitors you closely during dental sedation, and we take a health history to ensure your candidacy.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a safe gas administered through a nasal cannula during your procedure. You feel detached and melancholy with nitrous, but you’re still aware. This sedation method means you’ll feel less anxious during your procedure, but there are no lingering effects. You can drive yourself home or back to work.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is a pill given before treatment. With this sedation method, you’ll feel completely relaxed and may not recall the finer details of your treatment. You’ll need a friend or loved one to drive you. We also recommend resting for the day and not making any life-altering decisions.

IV Sedation

As with oral sedation, you should have transportation and rest for the remainder of the day following your procedure. IV sedation is delivered directly into the bloodstream. You’ll be minimally conscious but mostly unaware of what’s happening. It’s doubtful you’ll remember your procedure.

Types of Dentures in Lodi and Elk Grove, CA

Our Elk Grove dental office proudly serves Sacramento, Elk Grove, Galt, Lodi, Roseville, and the surrounding areas with various denture options for every lifestyle.

Immediate Dentures

You no longer have to worry about going without teeth following dental extractions. By planning ahead, Dr. Pritpal Gill will have dentures for you to wear on the same day as your surgery.

Regular follow-up appointments will keep your dentures fitting their best until you are ready for your final dentures in about six months' time.

Complete Dentures

Patients who have no remaining natural teeth (edentulous) can use complete dentures to replace all of their teeth on the upper and lower arch at once.

Dr. Gill will determine if you have enough healthy bone to achieve a comfortable fit. Upper dentures rely on your bone structure and suction from the upper palate to stay in place. Lower dentures secure to the bony ridge underlying the gums.

You will influence the appearance of your final dentures by choosing a color and smile shape that reflects your goals for your smile.

Partial Dentures

When some natural teeth remain, they can anchor a partial denture in place. Partial dentures are made of various materials to meet different patients’ needs.

  • Flexible partials – lightweight and comfortable
  • Metal partials – durable and long-lasting
  • Acrylic partials – natural and strong

Dr. Gill will match your partial denture teeth to your natural teeth so that they complement your smile.

About Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures offer a reliable solution for patients who want the security of dentures that never move or shift. By placing 4 to 6 dental implants per arch (like the All-on-4® treatment concept), we create a locking system for dentures to keep them in place. Dr. Gill utilizes 3-D cone beam technology and guided dental implant surgery for the best possible outcome. He can often help patients avoid added bone grafting procedures by identifying an alternate location or angle to place the dental implants.

  • Ball-lock – dentures snap in with a ball closure
  • Bar-lock – dentures secure to a metal anchor

Implant-retained dentures eliminate slipping and falling, making smiling, laughing, and eating comfortably a happy experience.
